Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford was born in America. She is an actor as well as a singer and dancer. Her first Broadway roles, she played in Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. Her performance as Essie Carmahiel in You Can't Take It With You as Essie Carmahiel was rewarded with the Tony Award in Best Featured Female Actress in the Play. Annaleigh is a Tony Award winning actress and director has spent most of her career working alongside famous directors and actors both on stage and screen. Ashford will be next starring alongside Kumail Nanjiani, in Robert Siegel's Hulu exclusive Welcome to Chippendales. It will premiere on 22nd November. Ashford is currently working for Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust with Sarah Paulson and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. The film will be available on Disney's DTC platforms, as well as Hulu Original. Ashford is scheduled to return to Broadway on March 20, 2023 where he will star alongside Josh Groban opposite Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. The production is in the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. The team behind Hamilton producer Jeffrey Seller and director Thomas Kail will be at the control of the production. Ashford's latest performance was Paula Jones on Ryan Murphy FX's American Crime Story Impeachment. The series is based on a nationwide scandal that involved Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky, as well as Linda Tripp. Her two seasons on CBS comedy B Positive was her first big role. It was developed by Marco Pennette and Chuck Lorre the show also starred famous actors Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo and Ben Vereen.No stranger to Broadway Ashford was awarded the Tony Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for her portrayal of Essie in You Can't Take It with You. The actress has also performed in Broadway in Sunday in the Park With George Wicked, Legally Blonde in addition to the original character of Lauren as Lauren in Kinky Boots for which she received a nomination for a Tony Award. Ashford splits her life between Los Angeles & New York. She was born in Denver and was raised in Denver.
